"Holy Scripture contains all things necessary to salvation. Anything not found in it, or proved by it, is not to be required of anyone, that it should be believed as an article of Faith, or be thought as necessary to salvation."

Holy Scripture, the Bible, The Word of God.
We believe the Bible consists of books written by people under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. We call them the Word of God because God inspired their human authors and because God still speaks to us through the Bible. We understand the meaning of the Bible by the help of the Holy Spirit, who guides the Church, the Body of Christ, the People of God, in the true interpretation of the Scriptures.

The Bible
The Holy Scripture, commonly called the Bible, are the books of the Old and New Testaments; other books, called the Apocrypha, are often included in the Bible.
The Old Testament consists of books written by the people of the Old Covenant, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, to show God at work in nature and history.
The New Testament consists of books written by the people of the New Covenant, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, to set forth the life and teachings of Jesus and to proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom of God for all people.
The Apocrypha is a collection of additional books written by people of the Old Covenant, and used in the Christian Church.
We call them the Word of God because God inspired their human authors and because God still speaks to us through the Bible.
We understand the meaning of the Bible by the help of the Holy Spirit, who guides the Church in the true interpretation of the Scripture.

The Book of Common Prayer

Wherever Christians are gathered certain forms of public worship are followed. They include a time of prayer, reading from scripture, and administrtation of the sacraments. Many rites and ceremonies are practices and rituals based in Holy Scripture and traditions of the Church going back almost two thousand years. Trinity Church uses the Book of Common Prayer as its source of liturgy as established by the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America in 1789. The Book of Common Prayer has been revised several times over the last two centuries, most recently in 1979. A history of the Book of Common Prayer since its introduction in the 1500's in the Church of England to a downloadable version of today's edition are available.

The Sacraments

The sacraments are outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace, given by Christ as sure and certain means by which we receive
Grace is God’s favor toward us, unearned and undeserved; by grace God forgives our sins, enlightens our minds, stirs our hearts, and strengthens our wills.
The two great sacraments given by Christ to his Church are Holy Baptism and the Holy Eucharist.
