Total Team Ministry
Mission
At Trinity Church, we are working together by filling the needs
of Christ's own people. Reaching out to others supported by
our congregation we are Christ's hands, feet, and mouth. We
give thanks to our Creator for giving us the vision and the
strength to follow Him.
We can best accomplish the mission God has given us through
Christ by the Holy Spirit by living out our baptismal covenant.
Goals
We intend to live out our baptismal covenant by continuing in
the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread,
and in prayer. We intend to proclaim by word and example the
Good News of God in Christ. We will seek and serve Christ in
all persons, loving our neighbors as ourselves. And we will
strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the
dignity of every human being.
We seek to achieve all these things as a congregation engaged
in Total Ministry by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Total Team Ministry
Total Ministry has been defined as the ministry of all the baptized.
In a Total Ministry Church, members of the congregation serve
as a team in the ministerial leadership roles that were traditionally
filled by seminary priests. Ministry teams are "raised
up" from the local congregations, chosen and called by
that congregation for specific ministries. The Priest serves
as "sacramentalist," or celebrant in the sacramental
rites and blessings of the church. The Deacon has a special
ministry of servanthood, to interpret to the congregation the
needs, concerns, and hopes of the world. The Liturgist, selects
appropriate music and liturgy for worship services for the season
and occasion, and schedules and supervises the lay participants
for each service. The Intercessor gathers the petitions and
the names of those for whom we pray as a congregation, leads
us in corporate prayer, and provides us with opportunities to
grow in our prayer life and ministries. The Evangelist helps
spread the Word and connects the church to the community. The
Preacher interprets the word in homilies and meditations. The
Administrator provides wide-ranging administrative functions
in the life of the church, including administration of financial
activities, church office and Total Ministry team management,
and liaison with the diocese and other agencies and organizations
conducting business or scheduling activities with the church.
The Pastoral Care Minister serves as an Eucharistic Visitor,
visiting the sick and the homebound and those in special need
of spiritual companionship and friendship, helps identify those
in need of pastoral care, and brings their needs to the Deacon
and the Intercessor. Another important role for the Total Ministry
team is the Catechist, or instructor for candidates preparing
for baptism or for confirmation, reaffirmation, and reception
into our church.
